The History of the |

In order to recognize and reward those special Artillerymen, whom have through
great personal sacrifice, served faithfully the Artillery Branch, God and Country, the
amazing bird has created two special awards, with varying degrees. The First is the Ancient and Honorable Order of the Oozlefinch, with degrees as Master, First Class, Gunner, Apprentice and 24-hour Expert Oozlefinching. This award can only be presented at the Air Defense Artillery Center at Fort Bliss, Texas. The second award is induction into the "Oozlefinching., Old Timer" association. This association is a very elite group of veteran Artillerymen, that have sufficiently distinguished themselves for induction into the coveted association. This degree is bestowed upon personnel who qualify by virtue of their association with the bird over at least a 20 year period, as well as their dedication and faithfulness to the spirit of the Oozlefinch. This degree can be awarded to persons who are prohibited by age, space or other ills, from journeying in person to the Air Defense Artillery Center. The ancient custom of publicly showing tribute to the bird, or a photo rendering a remarkable likeness, is still recognized as minimum to be par for induction!
