We would like to welcome you to the Honor Guard |

Several years ago in Logan, Ohio, Alpha Battery was called upon to help
local AMVETS and VFW members to bury some fallen comrades that have gone
on before us. Upon doing so, we found that we were doing something that
these men had fought so long ago for us it was our duty and an honor to
help lay them to rest for a job well done serving our country. All
the original members enjoyed what we did. We continued to do more funerals
until finally someone at the state level decided to create what is now
known as the Adjutant General's Honor Guard. In our early days, we
would practice for 3-4 hours per week in the Logan Armory. During
practices we would film with camcorders on different views and each
member would point out who made little mistakes like
fingers out of place or hands in the wrong position. Standing in a rank
we would practice the fire sequence with the camera pointing down the
line at us. Over and over we would do this until we did it
together as a team. We have done well over 400 funerals and still do them almost daily if not weekly. The team is made up of M-day (week end soldiers) and AGR ( Active Guard Reserve). To be on this team, you have to want to be doing this kind of thing. There is no pay, much hard work, and total dedication to the cause. This cause is Paying back these soldiers that fought in battles and wars just to give us the freedoms that we so freely USE and others ABUSE today. |
